Natural & organic? Entirely natural with organic ingredients. Most brands would happily say 100%. Proverb means truth. All emulsions made in the UK have to have a preservative. We use the organic certification allowed preservative dehydroacetic acid. Although you are allowed to label it natural it isn’t truly. There is 0.6% in the bottle as legally require.

‘Clean’ brands tend to be younger and newer to market and thus don’t usually invest the large amount of funds needed to clinically trial products to prove results in an independent lab. Not us; we are firmly committed to do this as the clean, organic and natural sector has to prove it works. Believe it or not you can do clinical deodorant trials, but we are not at the stage of being able to invest in these yet. They actually do it by sniffing armpits- what a job!

THE CASE
You need only one of our solid, hardwearing deodorant cases that can be used over and over again. They are smooth to touch, never dent and are happy rolling around in your gym and travel bag. They are suitable to put in the dishwasher and on average will save you adding 8-12 deodorant cases a year to plastic landfill.
The elephant in the room- but the case is plastic??? Sure is. We have made organic and natural skincare since 2007 and the right packaging choice for this is a huge part. We are well practiced at it and have used many options in our ranges - glass, aluminium, PET plastics, bioplastics. Clearly, we started this journey believing the case would never be plastic, we went straight to cardboard tubes. However, we are also academics and research everything to the hilt and if you are really willing to take the time and learn, then it is never that simple. All the marketing of “deodorant cases made entirely from plants” or aluminum being better for the world is frankly just that - marketing.

THE REFILL
Paper: Your deodorant refill arrives in a beautiful very specialist paper wrap, that protects the deodorant but can also be put straight into the paper stream or compost.
Wheel-Loop Back: When you finish the refill there is a small PET plastic wheel on the base- it looks like a Trivia Pursuits cheese wheel! Please keep and collect these and we will send you a special bag to get them back to us, at no cost to you so we can loop them back into production. They are widely recycled if required.
With the body wash, this is something you will have never seen before - a planet first in beauty packaging. A few eco-pioneers have made home compostable pouches, but to date, these have NEVER held beauty creams, emulsions, gels and liquid. Normally these pouches contain powders that you then have to mix with water. The Proverb Planet first pouch is the game changer for the beauty industry and one we can’t wait to share for the greater good. Imagine a beauty industry that can be delivered in wood pulp paper-based packaging. Packaging that helps make biomass and soil, not landfill and ocean-bound plastic heaps.The entire pouch is fully tested to TUV OK compost home. The ink is also accredited by TUV OK Compost at home and is proven to have no ecotoxicity to the soil. It does mean that we don’t apply protective anti-scratch layers to the pouch that would stop the composting process, so you may find marks occurring on the paper. It has been fully tested and accredited to EN13432 the industrialised compost standards too. Home Compost (e.g. your garden compost) - 26 weeks at ambient temperature (<30C). Industrial Compost (local council food bin) –12 weeks at 60C. To help the process we advise cutting the pouch into smaller pieces and always ensuring your home compost has air and moisture.
